Welcome to the Boroondara General Cemetery, commonly known as the Kew Cemetery. Only 8 kilometres east of Melbourne's CBD, Kew Cemetery is an operating cemetery designed in the tradition of the Victorian garden cemetery. Kew Cemetery celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2019. It is one of the oldest cemeteries in Victoria, with more than 80,000 burials to date.
We offer a range of burial and interment options. Currently, garden crypts are available for burial, and wall and garden positions for the interment of cremated remains. These are held in perpetuity. More information about memorialisation can be found by clicking here.
Temporary office restrictions: Covid-19: The Premier, The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP, has declared a State of Emergency in Victoria. The provision of essential cemetery services is our priority during this time. As such, the office will be staffed remotely and counter services will not be available until further notice. For any enquiries or appointments please contact us by telephone (03 9853 7025) or email (email@example.com).
Suspension of working bees: Unfortunately, owing to the re-imposition of Stage 3 Covid-19 restrictions from 9 July, 2020, the Friends of Boroondara Kew Cemetery have suspended their regular working bees at the cemetery until further notice.
